THE STORY: Compared to the original on which it is based, the Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 48 makes more concessions to current expectations regarding design, style, comfort and functionality. The weight of the 48-millimetre case was kept down to 120 grams, mainly by using lightweight titanium, which makes the watch perfect for everyday use. And the designers did not want to do without the date display inside the small seconds subdial. The chapter ring, Arabic numerals and propeller-like hands are all beige, as on the original model. The IWC-manufactured hand-wound 59215-calibre movement has an 8-day power reserve. Despite having an opening in the case back for the power reserve display, the watch still retains the soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. This model is limited to 1,000 watches and comes with a brown calfskin strap.
