The choice of bronze for the case pays homage to the well-known ship, HMS Beagle, that carried Charles Darwin on his expedition to the Galapagos Islands. In those days, bronze - which is non-corrosive - was used for portholes, fittings and nautical instruments. Depending on the use to which it is put, bronze develops a patina in the course of time and darkens in colour, giving the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition "Expedition Charles Darwin" its own unmistakable character. The bronze tone recurs in the luminescent material on the hands, indices and quarter-hour scale on the internal rotating bezel.
